Succinctly states where we are and what's happening. These three things, in addition to doing much else, are the sheet anchors of American wealth and power.
Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.

oh great, it *is* a new variant.

and if the Hong Kong hospitals are any sign, it's unusually bad on (unvaccinated) kids.

fortunately we have, uh, the worst and dumbest people in the world now in charge of US public health.
“Experts have been closely watching the variant, which is now dominant in China and is on the rise in parts of Asia. Hong Kong authorities say that rates of COVID-19 in the city have climbed to the worst levels they have seen in at least a year…”

Trump saying Putin is “tired of the war” because it makes him “look bad” and he just wants to “look good” is the worst case of foreign policy projection I’ve seen in my lifetime.

We're so far beyond "the emperor has no clothes" it's dazzling. If only there were an opposition party.

I feel like we need to keep saying this because it’s so insane: This is a legal U.S. resident who has been detained for over a month now for his political opinions.
The Department of Homeland Security denied Mahmoud Khalil permission to attend the birth of his first child, who was delivered at a New York hospital on Monday, according to emails reviewed by The New York Times.

Mr. Khalil, a permanent resident detained in Louisiana, had requested a monitored furlough for the birth. His request was denied in less than an hour.

It’s also irrelevant. The government can’t just snatch you off the street and imprison you in a foreign country because they think you’re a criminal.
Fox News has resorted to just straight up lying about Abrego Garcia, who has never been convicted or even charged with a crime

I see only 2 reasons why mistakenly kidnapped, uncharged Mr. AbregoGarcia hasn't been released: 1)Trump admin wants to show there are no limits on their power & absurdity of this case makes that point; 2)he's been tortured & they don't want him to reveal what happened www.nytimes.com/live/2025/04...
