No reason to ever look out my windows again.

I saw that. We do think similarly on this topic for sure. I was late to sketching as my morning activity ran late, but I managed a quick sketch.

Looks like I have to send yet another email to New West Bylaws because apparently construction companies have no sense. These unnecessary spotlights are shining into my bedroom window.

I vote for Agnes and 10th to get some bump outs & other traffic calming before the two new towers full of drivers are built. It used to be safe to cross here, but over the past 4 years it is now so dangerous. Drivers don't slow down at all.

Neighbourhood continues to get uglier and more crowded. I no longer even look out the windows because there's nothing to see.

Went on a mushroom identification walk out on by the Beaty Museum. I have so many new favourite fungi now. This peppery bolete is adorable. There was another that smells like coconut!

Ugly.

Beautiful sunset run! No filter needed for these gorgeous leaves.

Wasn't expecting the dramatic weather change. Basking in the sun while sketching at Granville Island with @cuddlefishj.bsky.social & the Urban Sketchers!

Exiting Lake City Way station, the pedestrians will have to be aware enough to not get in the way of any cyclists riding downhill. Of course the sidewalk is right next to the road. Only so much change can happen in urban design at one time, I guess.

Accidentally an awesome photo of this Red-winged Blackbird. It was on the branch a split second ago!

BE. QUIET. UGH.

Beautiful day for a run.

I feel so hemmed in now by buildings. Won't be long before I pretty much have no view of sky from my own condo windows.

Out for a run at Fraser Foreshore and saw a cute little common garter snake.

R.F. Kuang talk at the Writers Fest was so much fun. She is so smart, funny, nerdy & quirky...one of the few people I would listen to on podcasts. Especially as her current obsessions are French existentialists and quantum mechanics!

Dear Lord. Amps are not required for a patio party. And why does this patio mean hundreds of apartments have to listen to it. It is a school night.

Am I losing my mind? I swear that search bar wasn't as large yesterday. It jumped out at me this morning when I accidentally hit it instead of an app icon.

This particular construction noise in particular drives me around the bend. Not even earplugs can block it out.

That makes sense. I guess this may happen a lot in the future. The other sign in front of Telford is odd though, as considering its heritage. Would they be somehow part of the same strata?

Here is the sign in front of 109 10th Street:

Went to a butterfly pinning workshop tonight at Pretty Dead Taxidermy. Now I have a nerdy new skill and a place to buy the butterflies to pin!

In the Before Tower Construction days, I enjoyed summer mornings sitting on my balcony and reading a book. Six summers now not being able to do that.

In addition to this party, at an inside location just to the right of the patio, a piano and chorus are now belting out songs. I desperately need soundproof windows and AC to survive this city.

When you have only one neighbour who has a garden party, it may be once a week, once a month. When the building has about 300 suites, a garden party can happen every day of the week. The guitar and bongos have started.
