Gotcha. I see what you are describing in your method. There is a culture of "redos" that I am trying to break as proctoring and marking tests over & over is cumbersome. Dropping the one bomb out tests students have in my course each semester seems the best compromise.

Considering these are public listings, the CoV knows where they are and it seems it is choosing to NOT fine the owners.

The average is weighted for tests. The final higher point / more content ones are worth more in the grade.

Using a median with this student as of today would likely underestimate their performance since the range is huge. (Oops, I have 7 tests.)

I have only 6 tests in the semester, but they increase in total points due to increased content. I consider them more heavily when looking at a student's current performance as compared to the first two tests, since they should improve study skills & scores towards the end.

I think I fall in this category of trying to find a glimmer of understanding in work that is at least "homework-shaped" so I can give some mark. (This term is your best work yet, btw!)
