This is why they're banning books. Why they're rewriting curricula. Why the very mention of "racism" or "history" now sets off alarms. Because they know what we'd find if we looked too closely: A country terrified of its own reflection. Reparations aren't radical. They're overdue. Truth telling isn't divisive. It's the only way out. And if we don't learn from Germany, if we don't enshrine what happened, criminalize its symbols, and build laws that make it unacceptable , then we are telling the future exactly what we're willing to tolerate again.

By the terms of the contract, one of those vessels will remain on loan to the museum for at least two years. The other—a masterpiece known as the "Poem Jar"-has been purchased back by the museum from the heirs for an undisclosed sum. Now the work comes with "a certificate of ethical ownership". "In achieving this resolution, the MFA recognises that Drake was deprived of his creations involuntarily and without compensation," a museum spokesperson said in a statement. "This marks the first time that the museum has resolved an ownership claim for works of art that were wrongfully taken under the conditions of slavery in the 19th-century US." A Houston teenager who is a U.S. citizen was beaten, choked and subjected to racial slurs when masked officers chased him and his father in an early-morning immigration-enforcement action, a local immigrant- rights group said Monday. Arnoldo Bazan, 16, was on his way to school Thursday when an unmarked car pulled his father, Arnulfo Bazan, and the teen over. The teenager said during a news conference that he and his dad were pulled over by a car with no clear indication it belonged to law enforcement. The officers who approached did not identify themselves as law enforcement and wore uniforms that bore no official insignia, he added.

It is pertinent that they don’t know difference between a child and an adult.

Earlier, an FBI public affairs officer sent an email to Idaho News 6 stating, "Reports suggesting children were zip-tied or hit with rubber bullets during the October 19 FBI-led operation in Wilder are completely false." During coverage of the raid, Idaho News 6 obtained a photo showing a 14-year-old U.S. eitizen in zip ties. The newsroom sent the image to the FBI in response to the initial statement. I was today days old when I found out the gross bully who steals the main kid’s shoes & terrorises trick-or-treating kids on Halloween to steal their candy is named Ice.

Spoiler: at the end of the movie he’s left hanging in a cage. The main kid takes his shoes back.

She is a teacher at an elementary school in Little Village, a Chicago neighborhood that was targeted by ICE yesterday and today. Here is her response, shared with permission: "It's been horrible. I'm one of many who are a walking school bus to get kids to and from school. ICE lined our street yesterday. I was in a first grade room with a security guard/recess monitor when the call came over the radio alerting us of their presence, in code, that there are a lot of trucks lined up on 27 and Sawyer. Repeat.... The first graders in the room and the teacher just froze and looked in the direction of our radios. Security guard SPRINTED out of the room and yelled over the radio to bring recess indoors. I ran to help direct kids coming inside. Kids were brought inside and all were safe. All were scared. A handful were literally full body shaking. Today the streets were empty up until dismissal. Around 3PM parents peeked out their doors and cautiously left their homes. I saw parents hold tightly to their kids and rush home. When I walked the kids home with a colleague, an elderly man stood on his front porch and clapped and thanked us.
