Soul-binding and phylacteries: we can bind creature souls to objects and resurrect them from objects. A creature bound to a phylactery, upon death, will just respawn after 24h near the phylactery. Inspired by countless D&D lich stories of course.

Here's a "ghost goes to the afterlife" visual effect, but at normal game speed it's a bit hard to see, as 2 other effects play in parallel. So, a slomo version below - here you go folks, I spent an hour or two on that! #gamedev #indiedev #screenshotsaturday #pixelart

In Sigil of Kings, death is just an inconvenience... Corpses are linked to souls, and can be used as resurrection targets. Resurrected folk might still not be happy you killed them though :)

Happy Halloween!

Switching to Linux (Mint) as a #godot #gamedev: easy mode, with fantastic tools like Jetbrains products and SmartGit for source control - it immediately feels like home, without Microsoft's forced rotten direction. This is coming from a Windows fan since the 3.1 era, btw.

In-game editor for simple levels - editor and in-game view. For testing on my part, and for players with an itch to create! #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine

Even though most game maps will be procedurally generated, there are going to be a few fixed ones. For some simple maps (e.g. tutorial) I'm making a simple tool to be able to create them. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine

Redo of world generation screens! Some polish still needed, but hopefully a bit more consistent overall. Oh GUI dev what a rabbit hole you are #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #screenshotsaturday

Revamped race selection screen, which will double up as a "creature info panel" (the lower left part) in the in-game encyclopedia #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine

New screen: selecting starting skills and attributes. Took a while to design, any feedback welcome! (positive or negative)

Also, your opinion: Explanation of skills/attributes in box at the lower-left space, or via tooltips?

A roguelike without a tutorial can be a rough experience, due to the endless possibilities. One game mode will be a tutorial, which will show players what can they do in the game. For now, this is the screen where we choose this mode.

Harvesting mushrooms! Mushrooms (and other herbs/plants in the future) can be found in patches big or small, and your yield will be according to that, and your harvesting skills. Harvested plants will be useful in crafting and alchemy. #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine #pixelart

Mushroom season is coming! WIP mushroom sprites (and patches soon) - plenty to do still, but stay tuned!

Artists/any with sense of colour, your honest opinion please! W/o comments on resolution, which of the three baskets in each triplet is the better looking one? Differences are minor. If it's all the same (good/bad/meh), please say so. #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart

Smells like team spirit: if you attack a member of a team (e.g. a villager) and you're not seen by others (e.g. via stealth - first below), you're ok, otherwise (second below) everybody will attack you! #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine

Using some wands to eliminate local wildlife. Wands are procedurally generated, based on what abilities are supported in wand form (typically spells that require targets) #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine

Long video warning! Quest to deactivate a portal spawning fire elementals deep in a mine. Featuring: "footstep town", working mine, miners and their ... pets, and bad evil mine level with a portal barfing increasingly stronger fire elementals. You got it all folks! #gamedev #indiedev #godotengine

A huge THANKS to everybody who has wishlisted Sigil of Kings, based on a promise of a vision of a solodev and an endless, endless array of how-the-sausage-is-made videos and posts, without even a proper demo *yet*

You're AWESOME! 🤩
(and patient)
