A great interview by @mrjamesob.bsky.social with @matt-forde.bsky.social. I had a lump in the throat listening to the Nottingham Forest part of the interview towards the end.

The bottom of the barrel has been not so much scraped, as fed through an electron microscope.
People will have their own views on whether meeting a voice coach is on the same scale as 100 people or so having a knees up in No10.

But Keir Starmer needs to explain why the coach was an ‘essential’ worker. And while Thatcher had one too, after donorgate it risks making PM look frivolous again.

Perhaps JP Morgan should have a few ‘bring your toddler to work’ days because the adults are generating some vacuous shite.

@grahamcluley.com Ending your segment about people stealing Elvis’s identity with the line “There’s even one down the chip shop swears he’s Elvis” was most amusing!

The News Meeting is one of my favourite podcasts…
In the latest episode of the News Meeting, @basialc.bsky.social is joined by scientist and broadcaster @adamrutherford.bsky.social , plus Tortoise’s @catneilan.bsky.social and Stephen Armstrong, as they battle to pitch the top story.

Listened to this Origin Story podcast from @iandunt.bsky.social and @dorianlynskey.bsky.social, and I’m still reeling from the shock revelation at the very start that frogs do, in fact, jump out of a pan of steadily-heating water. WTF? I need a new metaphor now!

I agree with @boblucore.bsky.social; this is a tremendously impressive answer by Deepseek to a complicated question. The very detailed answer contains logic, reasoning, analysis and a model that produces a prediction consistent with those forecast by, er, humans.
This blows me away. @stephaniekelton.bsky.social asked the hottest AI, Deepseek, to model the impact on the Canadian economy of a U.S. Tariff for 25%.

This is an excellent and informative debunking of the ludicrous claim that 1 in 12 Londoners is undocumented.

The right wing press has been up in arms this week about a Telegraph report that claims 1 in 12 Londoners is undocumented 😱😱

Just had a strong earthquake (6.4 according to USGS) here in Chile. It was a long one too.

This is a truly fascinating thread.
"'How are you?' These are the three most useless words in the world of communication."

This compelling (but wrong/daft) assertion is based on #communication myth rather than how we actually talk 🧐

And asking "how are you" can even save lives...

A wonderful thread about a goat called Gromit…
Are we doing those old-school, meandering, ludicrous threads here? They were the best thing about ol’ Twitter.

And, hoo boy, have I got one for you.

Buckle up. We need to talk about Gromit.

I just read @dorianlynskey.bsky.social’s wonderful interview with Nick Cave in September’s Mojo magazine. The side-interviews with various Bad Seeds and Colin Greenwood add some great depth. Oh, and I have to disagree with Nick Cave’s assertion that “there’s too much fucking Nick Cave in the world!”
