Benko and his Signa Group seem to be in trouble according the German business magazine @managermagazine www.manager-magazin.de/finanzen/imm...
Is this surprising? Did anybody understand his strategy for his retail arm? His strategy was all about financial engineering, not good business models.

When you start with business model innovation, you can start from scratch. However, very early decisions can have a long path-dependency as #AWS with its #EC2 shows. After 17 years, they retired the once groundbreaking technology. #pathdependency
Chief technology officer Werner Vogels used his personal blog to reveal that the last EC2-Classic instance was shut down on August 15, marking the end of a near-17-year run. www.theregister.com/2023/09/05/a...

The decline of Twitter is a prime example when a whole business model falters. It's started with an owner with toxic values that destroyed the value proposition. In the end, people make or destroy businesses.
“I’ve been on Twitter since 2007, and built a meaningful part of my career on it, and I won’t be posting at all, for the foreseeable future, because I think it does matter.” Powerful from Benedict Evans on why he’s left Twitter.

While everything seems to change, the jobs customers want to solve stays pretty stable over time. However, the business model changes dramatically over time. A simple example from framing, weed control. blog.business-model-innovation.com/2023/04/what...
Business Model Innovation in Farming. Weed Control
Weed control is an example of how technology can change, but the job-to-be-done remains the same for hundreds of years.
