Just learnt that the Wakefield brothers who colonised #Nelson were tried in the Lancaster Castle with their mother. William stayed there for three years, Edward at another prison. Strange that Sarah and I lived in Lancaster for a while.

I have uncovered a deep dark hidden secret. The New Zealand Company (in London - of course) designed our city in the shape of a robot face. What does it mean? The cathedral is a tongue and the museum is a snot bubble, the eyes are our public toilets! It all seems connected!

#fightbacktogether #nelsonnz #ctu. Massive turn out and twice this amount when walking down the main street. So great seeing shop staff standing outside in solidarity. No question at all where this city stands politically. Also proud of my wife's speech.

My Bob Jones story. When I worked for ERO, it was in Bob's ugly building on Lambton Quay. First day of the job I was told not to give him eye contact in the lift. and that he had pushed someone up against the lift's walls a few weeks earlier. This was in 2006.

A massive study of 50,000 households over 1,000 archaeological sites provides ample evidence that inequality is not a "natural" outgrowth of sophistication. Instead, it is a political choice. Which means, kids, that we don't have to choose it.

New study reveals wealth inequality was never inevitable
A recent study published in the journal PNAS is overturning traditional wisdom regarding the origins and inevitability of wealth inequality

Five years ago today New Zealand entered Level 4 lockdown. We stayed there until April, then Level 3 until May, then at Level 2 until June. There was no vaccine, we collectively stamped out a virus that could have killed thousands - as it did overseas. This should be celebrated as a collective win.

I can't believe that NZ First is now putting a bill forward to bring back the Teatime Alarm. I thought we had moved on from that colonialist vestige in the 1950s.

Wow. TVNZ News called the situation between Donald Trump and Zelenskyy "a spat". The word used for a petty disagreement. Reminded me again why I gave up on TV news.

No, Democrats, these little auction signs aren't it. You're acting like Wes Anderson characters who don't understand that they're in a Tarantino movie.

So I wanted to add a gif in the web version of Facebook Messenger. It said that I needed to accept some cookies. I click the link and it reactivated my Faceboook account and didn't take me to the settings page. I have to find the hidden deactivation page again.

Due to my dyscalculia I can't code very well (if at all) - I can read it though and I can understand what it can and cannot do. So I usually use Visual Coding (Touch-designer, PureData, vvvv, UVS, blueprint) and it usually serves me right.
I gave Gemini (inside VScode) a try on my latest project..

OK, I'm still trying to see if I can replace the Facebook hole in my life with Bluesky. As noted by @menschu.bsky.social I need to be able to post to just who "I follow" (or a customised list of friends) instead of everyone.
Here is a step that takes me some of the way...
