The backup account of @devlinburgess.bsky.social, here for when the technical hiccups got ya down.
Manga Number 10: Imaginary. Another dud. Started out promising but quickly started to just meander in interminable banter-y dialog. Even the whole "imagination" angle seemed to get dropped in favor of listening to some pretty dull college kids ramble about dating stereotypes. Disappointing.

You'd think being ninjas *and* turtles would make them good at swimming, but nooooo....

Also just the fact that every country counts and reports crime differently. The way domestic abuse and sexual assault are dealt with (or *not dealt with*) for example.
Also also, it's weird to keep banging the "Japan is so safe" drum not long after both a mass murder *and* a political assassination.

It's not like I'm against the technique entirely-Stephen King does it all the time, and I like it plenty when he does it.
I just....don't get it here.

I know he's never liked dictators, that doesn't mean he's *right* about who they were or what they did.

Tezuka *does* have his characters indulge in the typical right wing Japanese whining about "victor's justice" regarding the occupation and the war crimes trials, which is annoying but at least fits more believably in the setting than "FDR planned Pearl Harbor and Hitler was secretly Jewish".

Honestly? Adolf was a fundamentally gross and misguided book. Ayako? Felt more like the other "serious" works I've read of the period. Not indefensible, but really scattershot and all over the place. Felt like it was trying too hard to be "adult" at times. Art was definitely better though./1

You can make a Sad Cake, a thing I just learned existed (it's a cake that doesn't rise. Also some recipes have coconut, which definitely is sad.)
This 1983 Recipe For 'Sad Cake' Starts With Bisquick
This retro 1980s recipe starts with Bisquick, and it has a devoted fan base for good reason. Don't let the name fool you: Sad Cake is cheerfully sweet, chewy, aalso if nd delicious.

Angel, when most people break down on Bluesky, they try to take everyone else with them in a downward spiral of doomposting ,cynicism and apocalyptic paranoia. You? You just said you're worried and stressed. You're fine, man. Vent a bit if you want.🫡

"Hey Joey, wanna play some ping-pong?"
"Nah. I like table tennis better."
"That's a sha-hey waiddaminuite. Get over here, ya knucklehead! Take a paddle."
"It's a racket, actually."
"Shaddup and get ready to be pinged! Or....ponged....just play!"

Don't worry, I'm the type to obsess over everyone reacting to my posts immediately. I'm not Drake.😄

I'll stick by Origins as the only game other than Asylum to really work for me, particularly on the story front. I love Kevin Conroy and Mark Hammil but I think Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker give damn fine performances.
Also, great main theme.
