He’s also shortening the swing up by about 6 inches on fastballs. So it’s almost like he’s trying to be pickier and just make contact with fastballs while saving the A swing for offspeed?

My theory is he and the staff have been working on something. Don’t know how typical it is to swing faster on offspeed but that’s what he’s been doing. The chase rate and walk rate improvements are pretty remarkable too.

It may not help Devers that he is swinging harder at offspeed pitches than fastballs, but for whatever reason he’s already been doing that for the last three years. #redsox

I can’t be close the first person to notice this, but isn’t the simplest solution for Raffy’s struggles (particularly against the fastball) is that…he’s just lost bat speed? I’d be pretty concerned about that if I was the Red Sox?
