Wrote a piece seven years ago about how the passing of Holocaust survivors and the re-emergence of fascism was not a coincidence. It didn't occur to me that their deaths would also drive anti-semitism in general, but I suppose I should've seen that coming as well.

I was up in the middle of the night watching Australian news coverage.
They were asking Australians on the street for their reactions, and one of them said that, prior to today, they had only seen mass shootings through American TV footage.

Perhaps the ultimate irony: one of the few things I was able to get from the military as I was being unceremoniously being thrown to the curb was getting every last one of my vaccines updated.
Pretty sure they'd take the immunity away from me if they could, though.
