I am very happy for my former colleague who accepted a good paying job with good benefits today. But I am selfishly mourning the fact there's very little chance of getting her back after all the RIF threats she she went through this year.

Last year I helped a taxpayer finally receive a refund he'd been owed two years. He was so grateful he wanted to buy me roses for Mother's Day. I exclaimed that was illegal and he should spend that money on his kids. Should've asked for a jet to delivered this year.

Wanna know how badly wasteful feds are spending your money? They stopped supplying our office break room with paper towels. We now have a paper towels club, admin staff and probationary employees not allowed to contribute but free to use. Next month we install bidets!*

A month ago if I twisted my knee up I simply elevated & iced it working at home, if it was my office day I'd explain the situation to my manager & she'd approve WFH. Now, it's Dr. note, medical telework approval from higher up, forms & stress, worry about being added to a list if we get it wrong.

It might just be coincidence but this morning I received a call from a collection agency regarding my best friend's student loans. Christine died suddenly four years ago New Year's Day, but the day after he's back in power I'm getting collection calls for a dead girl? Good luck with that.
