However this would not protect against an attack to the machine that was in a lower level underneath the software, or put into the hardware, such as malware on a chip.

This can potentially be mitigated once the machines arrive on site, by an election official wiping the potentially contaminated software off the machine and then uploading a clean copy directly from a USB drive.

It could happen right in the factory where they are built or somewhere along to journey to the polling station.

Thanks for explaining. It's a difficult situation as there's no perfect solution. The electronic devices require software to function, which can be tampered with by one bad actor putting malware on the voting machines or tabulators.

Yes there are! I'm happy to report there were 37,290 people in Escambia county who voted for Gay.

With voting machines, tabulators, anything else that connects to the web, the fraud can be committed by foreign interference. I think it's safer for national security to not have internet connected elections.

I will have to look into this more. How is the fraud easier this way? At least the fraud would need to be done locally and could be better contained.

Fair point. That was a nightmare.

Yes, sadly she lost the district due to the other three counties staying red. She did however win in one of her counties which was significant.
April 3, 2025 at 1:44 PM
She also managed to do all this with only grassroots support for most of the campaign. Most of the establishment had written her district off as untouchable, but if she could do this without full party support, imagine what she could have done if the Democratic majority had helped campaign for her!

The seats that have been flipping had much smaller Republican leads to contend with. Gay Valimont took a +37R district and turned it into a +15R district. That's a 22 point shift, which is larger than some of the seats that actually flipped. She is incredible.

Thank you for your vote! A lot of Floridians indeed turned out for her. She did a great job winning Escambia county.

She won Escambia county, which includes Pensacola, 37,290-34,943 even though
Republicans outvoted Democrats, 36,094-27,609. Thank you independents!

Great job Escambia County. Thanks for showing up.

I'm so proud of your county. I'm sorry the others didn't show up, but you all did great.

I would like to see a shift in the timeline of when election results are finalized. We used to wait until all votes were counted. These days candidates conceed before the mail-in ballots have been received. We should not conceed until everyone has had their ballot counted.
April 2, 2025 at 4:24 AM
I would really like to see a movement where we all lobby our state legislators to each change our individual state's election law to permit only paper ballots that are hand counted.
April 2, 2025 at 4:16 AM
How are recounts currently conducted in Florida? Aren't there paper receipts from the voting machines?
April 2, 2025 at 4:16 AM
Gay and Josh, please don't concede. Please demand recounts. Hand counted. No tabulators, computers, wifi, or starlink. Just paper only, by hand.
