The top 1% evade $163 billion in taxes per year — enough to end homelessness, hunger, and pay for universal childcare.

👆🏻 This is the crime wave we should be talking more about.

The central consideration of the economy should be the velocity of money - if money is actively being spent and changing hands in an economy, it fosters employment and innovation.

Tariffs decrease velocity
Income inequality decreases velocity
The private healthcare industry decreases velocity

Baby Invasion is one of the ugliest, most confrontational films I've seen in years. Rancid vibes, I loved it boxd.it/9c4MCF

Can't stop thinking about Baby Invasion. It's a brilliant sort of fun-house mirror to our terminally online culture of detachment and the violence that surrounds us. Genuinely terrifying in its nihilism

Watched through David Chung's filmography as a director, usually known for his work as a cinematographer for Tsui Hark, Chung's directoral output, though small, is incredibly strong and wide spanning in style boxd.it/EUpfI
Ranked: David Chung
A list of 5 films compiled on Letterboxd, including Royal Warriors (1986), Web of Deception (1989), I Love Maria (1988), Magnificent Warriors (1987) and It's a Drink! It's a Bomb! (1985).

Crazy how dogshit A24's slate looks this year. The quippy Death of a Unicorn? The cheeky cult of celebrity flick Opus? Alex Garland's Iraq War propaganda Warfare? All dead on arrival

Loved the Rule of Jenny Pen. Oldsploitation at its finest. Great performances from John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush paired with some disorienting cinematography. Really digs into the dread of elderly care homes and the battles against one's own body and agency.

Honestly I'm souring on season 2 of Severance in the exact same way I soured on season 2 of The Bear. A lot of fart-sniffing after a breakout success. Attempts at experimentation on the formula without the formal rigor to actually mix it up

It's crazy how even Hong Kong's silly genre films can look 100x better than most stuff coming out today youtu.be/pEu6gtSXK5U?...

RIP. Naked Killer is such a singular vibrant film and one of my entry points into HK cinema. Would also rec his Rebel without a Cause riff On the Wrong Track

Played the Nightreign Network Test - overall I like the idea but it needs one more hook on a systems level to really shine

Watched the US censored version of Kite - no context, just heard that the cut dub was the director's preferred version. Afterwards, I read up on all of the ickiness of the uncut version and sheeeeesh. Weird one to rate considering.

The way this bathroom shootout continually escalates is incredible.
