BREAKING: The Senate has just voted YES to our inquiry into the social media age ban & search engine age verification codes! This isn't just about kids - it's a national age verification and identification system masquerading as being about online safety for children. 🧵

I never take photos of my coffee because I think who cares what I am drinking but then this arrived today from a cafe and it was quite extraordinary, I’m sure you will agree and want to share with your friends.

Saturday read #1. Small gods & big ruptures are the meat of Sarah Blasko's newish album. Mid-tour she stops to consider whether she's thriving because of or despite it.

There was a pretty sunset while the rain from a major #Sydneystorm still fell. While taking photos from a rotunda a man appeared and told me of how the reversal of the Earth’s magnetic poles leaves us just 22 years before we’re all wiped out in huge tsunamis. The whole thing was quite extraordinary.

I visited #Glenbrook today in the Blue Mountains. It has paused becoming the new Mosman of the West after property prices dropped post-pandemic. However shiny white mansions continue to spawn. Feels more Kellyville than a village in the bush full of mostly modest weatherboard cottages & bungalows.

Any ideas how to enjoy news but avoid Trump’s gormless, attention-seeking nonsense?
Muting words like Greenland and Canada is a strategy that might remove any worthless Trump thought bubbles from my feed but eventually I’ll end up with no useful news at all.

Massive change at Meta, as Zuckerberg announces they’re ditching fact checkers in the US and replacing them with community notes. Meta is probably the single largest funder of fact checking in the world right now. But that appears to be coming to an end. www.facebook.com/share/v/18Rc...?

I doubt that X has more than 20 million users who post regularly. So this rise in BlueSky users is not insignificant—especially if a higher proportion are vocal users.
