DOJ has sued Maine, Oregon, California, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Washington, Delaware, Maryland, New Mexico, Rhode Island, and Vermont for access to its most sensitive voter data.

My firm has moved to intervene in 10 of those cases. We are working on the last 4.

The upkeep of carbon-steel knives is a huge pain. But according to Tyler Austin Harper, the knives “cultivate habits of mind—patience, focus, and repetition—that the pace and shape of modern life make so hard to develop”:
The Most Impractical Tool in My Kitchen
Carbon-steel knives are high-maintenance. And that’s the point.

Ways earth science has been political:
-Studying climate of the American West brought the concept of Manifest Destiny into question and challenged notions of American expansionism in the 19th century.
-The discovery of Geological Time upended the Biblical timeline
Studying the earth is political. It always has been and it always will be. The difference is that there is now a political party made up of people whose worldviews are threatened by the very existence of a scientific process.
It's over.

Despite the fact that the academic council recommended against it, despite the fact that the program brought in more tuition than it cost, and despite the fact that Nebraskans need & deserve this expertise, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences will be cut.

Pete Hague-seth seems to think the expression "The Fog of War" is literal. It is not. It is a metaphor, and one that would not excuse executing shipwrecked passengers you can clearly see on your video screen.

So many volunteers have had a front row seat watching this play out, and it's truly sad to grasp what's been lost. I trust we'll be able to recover, but it's extra work at a time we need to be singularly focused on combatting Trump's war on the environment.

(🧵) I’m going to say some things that may cost me followers. That’s only appropriate, given that what I say in this thread is about exactly that: how utterly meaningless everything is right now besides saving America—because without rule of law and democracy, nothing we dream of will ever come true.

The cruelty is the point
In Chicago, four vehicles descended and eight ICE agents moved in to kidnap a child.

She screams, “I’m 15,” as ICE yanks her from the car and kneels on her neck.

This is not about immigration enforcement.

It's about terrorizing Americans.
