One thing I've found to be something of a constant through all this is that a lot of sales teams are anchored by people with ancient ideas and calcified skill sets who simply can not fathom how to monetize, say, a podcast. Either that or the sales team bailed any everyone says "uh... YouTube money?"

It’s absolutely vital that we support independent media. Please seek out sites like @aftermath.site, @404media.co, @remapradio.bsky.social, and @rascalnews.bsky.social and, if you can, sign up for a paid subscription. Pick up a paid sub for your favourite podcast or newsletter. Media is dying.

Polygon was a great constant to have over the years, they did a lot of quality work and held themselves to a really high standard. Very frustrating to see sharp people with solid, institutional knowledge get tossed out like this.
