It has been a year since my cherished friend Zomi was taken from us—murdered by a world devoid of hope.

In honor of my fallen friend, I will raise her standard and strive to be a beacon of light in this world.

Hold tight to the things that fill you with joy and make you grateful to be alive.

For over 25 years, Washington, D.C. has maintained a balanced budget. However, the recent actions taken by the House threaten this stability.

Last night, the House passed a spending bill that strips D.C. of access to $1.1 billion in locally generated revenue halfway through our fiscal year.

Where we currently stand as a country is that congress is advocating for permanent tax cuts for oligarchs, while working-class families—who receive free or reduced lunch at school—are being told that their lazy little kids should go out and find a job?
BROWN: Would you support getting rid of school lunch for vulnerable kids and getting rid of childhood cancer research?

REP. MCCORMICK: Philanthropy is where you get most of your money for childhood cancer research. When you talk about school lunches, hey, I worked my way through high school.
