There's a photo of me somewhere wearing a giant trash bag as a poncho (didn't work, totally soaked for when we went into the city later) mud smeared on my face like war paint, biggest fucking smile on my face. I'll find it.

This got sent around in a text thread on Thanksgiving. This was the Nov. 10, 2007 game against USC. It poured basically the whole game, the guys they start interviewing at 58 seconds are my friends, Cal lost.

Oh and also this was my bachelor party.

Watching Cal get their asses kicked to a ranked team while freezing to death on Tightwad Hill - a backpack full of Tecates and a 3 gallon bucket of Tom Collins the only things keeping you warm. Sounds like my 20s/the perfect little Saturday.

Mine is watching Van Morrison do high leg kicks.

Pretty nice little Saturday you've got there.

Showed up and told the hundreds of people in support of this they were paid protestors bussed in for free pizza. Refused to sign the resolution after it passed because he's a child throwing a tantrum. Mayor Bitch Baby.

Looking forward to the former middle reliever pushing him to a season-ending injury in July.

fuck off dude

Right where I'm at. I view it as simply "who is better trade bait in 10 months?"
November 19, 2025 at 5:25 AM
Because Grayson, for all his promise, has only proven to be a league average arm to this point and his arm might be filled with pop rocks. My guess is they view Ward as a potential mid-season trade target and Grayson as far more volatile in that regard.

Annual tradition of me going out for a quick errand in the rain and finding out my Vans slip-ons have cracked around the soles as my socks soak up a gallon of water.

Arguing semantics over this but breezing over the part where she said 15-year-olds are the "barely legal type[s]" is also the reddest of red flags.

Moorad can come back. But only if he puts Headley in the Padres Hall of Fame.
November 14, 2025 at 3:17 PM
...you're looking for a photo of the bobblehead, aren't you?
November 14, 2025 at 6:35 AM
My favorite part was calling a 90-win team that missed the playoffs only a year after dealing their franchise pitcher a "highlight." My man, that's the fear of what might reoccur here!
November 14, 2025 at 6:34 AM
So maybe MSP has the means. But let's assume Moorad's take in the McLaren sale is half of MSP's overall take; it's still significantly less than Krasovic claims.
November 14, 2025 at 6:30 AM
Main thrust of the article is Moorad sold his stake in McLaren for "more than $5 billion." And the Padres are valued at $1.95B, so now it's a realistic possibility!

Only the sports capital group he's co-partner and CEO of sold their 33% stake in a *company* valued at $5B.

A) Not mine. It was my request, but 100% a @stfu.dad creation.

B) It's my profile's background photo.
November 14, 2025 at 5:46 AM
Kras states Moorad "[sold] his stake in McLaren Racing for 'more than $5 billion,' per Axios." That's a mischaracterization of what the article says.

They note McLaren Racing is *valued* anywhere at more than $5B (it's anywhere from $4.05B to $5B depending on the source). MSP sold its 33% share.
November 14, 2025 at 5:35 AM
Honestly, this whole thing has felt more comparable to the Orioles situation. Only it's a way worse time to sell because...well, it's the Padres.
November 13, 2025 at 9:17 PM
That's a good question and - if the payback figures are correct - you're probably right in that it's not as likely an outcome as it was in Minnesota. Plus, $150M is an easier hurdle to clear in any potential sale than the $425M the Pohlads were looking to clear when they were shopping the Twins.

Not every franchise gets one Rockstar GM era. To think, we might get TWO in under 15 years?! Chills.
