I am sorry for yet another third comment, but, the URZ is one of the most interesting of the "LMGs" (in quotes, as it is a modular 1966 design).

Also 1940s era Chinese firearms too. Long eras with many interesting, fairly experimental and niche guns used.

That specific era of firearms, the ones used in China during the 1930s, has a lot of very interesting things going on. Definitely worth a look.
Also yeah, glad that suggestion was good! Can't wait to see what kinds of weird and unique LMGs will end up in the game.

I think they used some sort of interesting in-game system to make sure the reverb sounded right and it was customizable, but I'm not fully sure as to how it works yet.

Oh, and for sound design reference, there's a Gmod project that impressed me with its original sound design, Urban Decay and Urban Renewal. Unique sounds for all sorts of ammo types. Somewhere between Black, Bad Company 2 and Michael Mann's HEAT.

Absolutely awesome. Unrelated, but Forgotten Weapons recently covered a Finnish LS-26/31 that has a drum mag and was used in China during the 1930s.

As for niche things, the urumi has always interested me given how hard it is to use and how historically unique it is in terms of lasting impact.

I honestly quite like the game. I wish the coop worked in RPCS3's RPCN system but it eventually will I'm sure.

Also don't think dismemberment for other limbs should happen, mostly to keep the gunplay unique. Partial dismemberment is the solution I went with for my project, so you could still tear through the limbs somewhat but not truly dismember them.

Punching through kevlar could potentially have something special too. Ready or Not has a good example of kevlar bullet holes.
Also, L4D2 had the quite excellent particle effects for armored zombies that had kevlar, where the kevlar fiber went into the air from punching through it with a shotgun.
