Facts are black and white.
The COP30 in Belem: yet another political masquerading opportunity where economic and technological realities get painted as the outcome of heroic green government policies.
“COP30 in Belém may well be remembered as the moment that the world accepted the leading role of China in addressing humanity’s most important challenge.”

“China is helping enable the energy transition, while the U.S. tries to force countries to buy U.S. oil and gas. Global trends favor China.”
As U.S. and E.U. Retreat on Climate, China Takes the Leadership Role
As U.N. talks get underway, China is emerging as a key leader in international climate efforts. It is empowering the global energy transition, and along with India and Brazil, is becoming the driving ...

Yes but Europe is horrible.
There were 93 homicides in London last year: population 9 million

In New York - population 8.5 million - there were
391.

London's homicide figure is 6 times lower than LA, 9 times lower than Miami, 17 times lower than Chicago.

And it's falling year on year despite the population increasing

I personally know 4 restaurant managers (2 are kitchen, 2 are general) here in Ashevile, and all of them have confirmed they will not be serving ICE at their restaurants and will trespass them if they refuse to elave

I can guarantee that the real fuel cell experts at BMW know that this €273m is a total waste of taxpayer money and will not resolve the fundamental economics problem.
German taxpayers are handing BMW €273m to once again attempt to push hydrogen-powered cars, when battery prices have once again dropped >50% in the past ~18 month and CATL is on its 5th-gen LFP battery.

CATL, BYD et al must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Sigh.

I Cannot Unsee the Photos of the Tortured Palestinian Hostages Returned by Israel

@dianabuttu.bsky.social asks: Where is the outrage, the coverage even, of the mutilated Palestinian bodies that the Israelis finally released as part of this 'ceasefire' deal?

And exactly this will be their demise.
It's one thing I truly loathe about these assholes (who dominate our politics & culture now). They can't tolerate something good & pure *existing*. Even if it's no bother to them, no bother to anyone, they can't tolerate it. Nothing can live outside their control, their narrow boxes, their fear.

We have had a loss of pasta separation and we need to come back to our old ways:

US: Barilla classic, Elbow pasta, Ronzini, and Creamette.

Europe: actual pasta

America, please stop importing our good stuff. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

"Not in favor" means the President's tariffs exceeded his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

The real emergency isn't international or economic. It's domestic and institutional.
