1/2 Thank you to the driver who let me zipper merge on Friday afternoon on Wightman from Beacon toward Hobart. The bike lane just disappears mid-bock and merges into the main traffic lane. I climbed, signaled, looked left, saw the driver back off, and merged. (more)

Pet peeve. Leaf blowers creating leaf piles in the bike lanes plus blowing mold spores everywhere. No idea what's in or under the leaves that I'll hit or slide on, plus elevating my allergies like crazy.

We need to rethink the generalizations. In the constant battle between car and bike, we need to remember that it's more the behavior of the driver vs. the behavior of the cyclist. I have had my share of close calls no matter how safely I try to ride. (more)

Bummed that Trek Shadyside announced they're shutting down effective 12/13. I have two Trek bikes and the folks at that shop have really helped me out. I hope their staff can find a way to land on their feet.

Today is my last century attempt of the year. 35°F start and 55°F expected at the end means saddle pack with extra clothes and space for storing the heavier layers. The trail has also shut off all water stations so I'm carrying four bottles with refills at 32mi and 68mi. Wish me luck. #bikesky
