After a nice shooting night (3/6 outside of 8 feet) Derik Queen moves to 19/63 (30.1%) on the season outside of 8 feet and 28/79 (35%) on non-RA 2s.

Troubling that he was uncomfortable trying to score inside against Edey.

2 weeks off should not result in a steep decline in cardiovascular conditioning for an already in-shape professional basketball player.
Zion Williamson sprint conditioning after practice. Zion recently missed time with a hamstring injury and the staff is continuing to work with him to get off the minutes restriction

The top 20 seasons in NBA history (possession tracking era) for FTA/100 possessions includes Giannis 5x, Embiid 3x, Shaq 5x, Dwight Howard 4x, Charles Barkley 1x, and David Robinson 1x.

Luka is on pace to finish 9th on that list this season.

Related to this, it is insane to me that Pistons fans are balking at the idea of trading Ausar and parts for Markkanen.
Nearly all of DET's surplus value on true shooting attempts is coming from 3 players--Duren, Reed, Robinson.

When Cade is shooting (458th/471 in TS Add) the other team is winning, and yet opposing teams continue to double him. I'd expect the Pistons to fall off when teams figure out what to do.

The longer the regular season goes on, the more Jose's value declines. His value to a winning team is to eat regular season minutes pressuring the ball in the backcourt.
While Jose is healthy and shooting 48% from 3 would be a good time to shop him.

One of these players is on a two-way deal and the other we picked up a 7 million dollar option for next year
November 17, 2025 at 2:26 AM
Pels look like they are going to lose in much the same way they have been losing all season (the other team being in control for the entire game without expending a lot of effort)
November 17, 2025 at 1:56 AM
Moody went from 41.9% on the season coming in to 46.3% from 3 after the 1st quarter
November 17, 2025 at 12:41 AM
Maybe he's referring to the players deciding not to give effort on a given night, either from the opening tip or at some point during the game, because it really hasn't been one particular quarter that has been a problem for them
November 15, 2025 at 9:44 PM
Pels should probably get Looney out of the starting lineup so he can play against backups, but that's probably what they are doing with Queen.

If you’re one of the 8 players per year that gives up a Deandre Ayton off the dribble dunk, that’s not good

ahem
While Jose is healthy and shooting 48% from 3 would be a good time to shop him.
November 13, 2025 at 2:41 AM
If Looney's rebounding has really fallen off as dramatically as the numbers say, there's very little reason for him to be on an NBA court
November 13, 2025 at 2:36 AM
that may or may not have been a violation by Karlo, but the adjudication of the call and certainty of the answer was BS.

The NBA has to either say outright "we're relying 100% on tech to definitively make the call", or say "we can't tell in certain situations & we'll stick with the call on court."

We're an eighth of the way through the season and Jokic is on pace for the greatest statistical regular season of all time, and he isn't even shooting the ball well from deep yet.

I said this ~15 hours after Shams broke the Doncic trade. Obviously Kyrie got hurt and that complicated part of the outcome, but the general outcome was always destined for where we are now.
Calling some shots now:

Dallas will trade Kyrie this offseason.
Dallas will not extend AD and will trade him sometime before the 2027 deadline. Could also be this offseason.

I'm glad they kept Willie at least long enough for us to see him play Karlo over Queen after he gave this quote.
November 5, 2025 at 1:27 AM
we're not yet close to rock bottom
Pelicans' Zion Williamson is out at least 7 to 10 days with a left hamstring strain.
November 4, 2025 at 9:34 PM
I know James Borrego is rumored, but just so we cover all of our bases:

Jeff Bower, Stan Van Gundy, Bill Laimbeer, and Dwane Casey are available.

Isiah Thomas is coaching the Saginaw Soul

Monty Williams is coaching TMI Episcopal High School

Ideally you want more than 5 points (on 2/6 shooting) and 6 rebounds from the center position at the half.
November 2, 2025 at 9:41 PM
Morant has surely been told at other points in his life that he sucked or that he was hurting his team, but this time it hurt him because he knows it's true.
November 1, 2025 at 8:27 PM
Like I said before, it's going to get worse before it gets better.

A good question to ponder is: what kind of head coaching candidate who plans on having a long career in the NBA would take the Pelicans job? I think it's going to be very difficult to find someone who isn't in it for the cash grab.

It's beside the overall point, but are we sure the Dyson Daniels trade was as bad a process as it is being made out to be? Has anyone else out there seen Daniels play this season? His impact is not radically different than Matisse Thybulle except that MT is a more willing and accomplished shooter.
