Yeah that was definitely meant to be satirical IIRC.

here at the Paper of Record, when an open white supremacist leaks someone's college application in an attempt to imply he got unfair race-based special treatment, even though he was rejected, we know what to do: publish it immediately prospect.org/2025/07/09/2...

and that can be true! but then you open the actual newspaper and it's soft-focus profiles of Chris Rufo, a frenzied transphobic crusade, an all-out effort to get the first Black woman president of Harvard canned over bullshit, Get Zohran, etc etc

Adding this to point out that the NYT is now on the record saying "editors *discovered* his failure to abide by our ethical standards" (emphasis mine)

This strongly suggests a termination for cause, which typically involves an internal investigation. So, what else did his editors "discover"?
Landon Thomas’s behavior seems to be embarrassing enough to the Times hierarchy that they had their spokesman go on record insinuating to the Post that he was fired for cause. I wonder whether legal signed off on that. nypost.com/2025/11/12/u...

I didn't say that at all. It almost certainly is. You don't get to go back. I'm making a different argument: that ESPN does far more material harm than good and it'd be better if ESPN, specifically, disappeared.

I don't think ESPN is a sports media company anymore so much as a sports gambling and propaganda company. I'm with you. Love sports media. But I don't think loving sports media has much to do with ESPN anymore.

That would be a good thing.
