Low lights, the heater is on and the therapy room is feeling warm and safe from the wind and rain outside. It could almost be a metaphor for the counselling experience!

As I put on my makeup today it struck me how many subliminal messages we receive in a day and in a lifetime.
Perfectionism is something that comes up a lot in my practice.
Ask yourself, how do I feel when I've made a mistake? Perfectionism is often celebrated at work, but can lead to burnout.

When you love books and you’re also a therapist so you need big book cases to hold your growing collection!

Starting to get my therapy room together, every little detail is important to me from how comfortable the chairs are to lighting and accessibility, recognising that accessing counselling can be nerve wracking so I make it my job to ensure the surroundings help calm the nervous system

As therapists it can be easy to focus on others and ignore your own self care needs. Today I have unashamedly rested and not only do I feel better for it but I know it'll support me to be more present for my clients.

Manifestation isn’t about wishing; it’s about working. It’s showing up for the life you say you want, even when it’s hard.
Redefining What It Takes to Show Up
I want to live a life that’s real, a life I’ve earned—not because everything feels easy or because I’m inspired every moment, but because I’ve decided to show up for myself.

The longest night and shortest day is how life can feel when facing difficult times. The solstice reminds us though, brighter days are ahead.

When facing the dark night of the soul, rest is important. We are not built to be on the go all the time; so rest and nourish your soul. #wintersolstice

In a world where things can feel out of our control, something that is in our control is the way we behave, love this message appearing on my feed today
Be the reason for #kindness. 🧡

Many people ask what type of therapy do I need? This infographic is a great place to start. I work integratively, drawing upon appropriate approaches to meet my clients needs
💡👀 This is really cool: do you focus on past or present/future in your work with clients? And how directive are you? Main #psychotherapy modalities along these two parameters - sample from the #UK. From Mick Cooper, unsurprisingly.

Great to be back at my training college reconnecting with some of my peers today. This picture was taken on our last day back in July and I’ve missed the connection we built up over the three years

⚖️🤨A good reality and ego check for #therapists! What Drives Change In #Therapy? The client factors (like drive and engagement) are better determinants of outcomes than therapist or their orientation…data from Mick Cooper(ref in the pic)
