I want to highlight the STI and sexual health education work being done by Mr. Guthrie. The U.S. continues to suffer from sky high rates of preventable STIs, largely because public health has been hollowed out by drastic underfunding, including basic education, prevention, and treatment efforts.
Hard agree. To have one's livelihood suddenly taken away is disorienting and painful, and has reverberating effects across communities.
I think these sort of stories are important at this moment. It's one thing to report the number of employees fired (which is very high!). It's another to make people (and elected officials) confront the fact that these are their neighbors.
