Arsenal fan, tech PR guy, and Twitter/X refugee.

My employers have asked me to make it clear that they want *nothing* to do with any of the dull, tedious comments I make on here, as they are far too cool for that sort of thing, apparently.
And yes, in case you *we’re* wondering, it did do exactly that earlier on in this post.
For all this talk of AI becoming all-powerful and overthrowing humanity, I for one won’t believe it’s any sort of genuine threat until it stops suggesting I replace “Were” with “We’re” EVERY SINGLE BASTARD time I type it.

Hats off to South Park for their excellent “Pete Hegseth’s a f*****g douche’ song in the latest episode. It’s (very) funny, ‘cos it’s true.

Today I have mainly been giving thanks for my US-based corporate HQ being off for Thanksgiving, and for the ensuing peace and quiet.

Honestly, the biggest concern I have about this Arsenal team right now is hubris. We’ve won nothing yet, and it’s important to remember that and not get ahead of ourselves. The season is long - I hope there aren’t, but it’s likely that there’ll be a number of twists and turns before it’s done.

I had an argument with a guy (purporting to be an Arsenal fan) in the Emirates concourse tonight, who insisted: “If Arteta doesn’t win the league this year, he’s gone.” In what multiverse would Arsenal consider sacking one of the best young coaches in world football for any reason whatsoever?!?

On another note, I couldn’t but observe after perusing this evening’s match, that The Arsenal are, in fact, very, very good at the old football thingy.

That is all.

You think we’re decent now? Wait until we actually have a fit centre forward…

A weekend where Arsenal beat Sp*rs, while United, City, and Liverpool all lose, you say? Don’t mind if I do.

Honourable mentions too for Merino, who played his hybrid midfield/striker role to perfection, Rice for being his usual superhuman self, and Hincapie for an extremely solid first league start. This was a real team performance - and a statement win at a critical moment in the season.

What a day though for Eberechi Eze. After a bright start, I thought he went into his shell a little, with too many safe, backwards passes. That all changed after his first goal though - the silkiest of hat-tricks complemented by swaggering flicks and tricks throughout the 2nd half. What a player.

That first Trossard goal couldn’t have been any more Freddie Ljungberg if he’d dyed his hair red and shaped it into a Mohican. The darting run, the turn, the scrappy finish - all vintage Freddie.

Absolutely massive opportunity for Arsenal in tomorrow’s game after today’s results. The team simply have to deliver 3 points and extend their lead after dropped points elsewhere. Come on you Gunners!!
November 22, 2025 at 11:09 PM
The most interesting thing about that City result for me, is not that they lost - it’s how wide open they were, giving up an incredible number of chances. If teams have a go at them, they’ll have some joy.

Always loved Newcastle.

This was the sort of game where the scheduling is unfortunate. Ideally, you want to go to Sunderland late in the season, on a sunny April day when they are fighting for points, instead of an autumnal evening game with the team on a great early(ish) season run of form. Ah well.
November 8, 2025 at 7:52 PM
Overall, I’m willing to accept a point there, given a) how awful the first half was b) we gave away two very soft goals and c) most our forwards are injured. Some subs to give us fresh legs might have helped, though.

I’d also like to thank Sky for providing tonight’s commentary via Sunderland Fan TV. The disappointment in commentator Don Goodman’s (Sunderland 1991-94) voice when Arsenal scored was matched only by his joy when Sunderland found the net.

Bizarre game. I had a bad feeling beforehand - which was seemingly borne out by that anaemic 1st half. 2nd half was a different story, though and, with a little more luck, Arsenal could have won comfortably. Late equaliser a sickener, but you can’t win them all.

What the actual? Is this in case Trump gets lost wandering around the place - and this is just a more subtle way of pointing him towards the nearest toilet?

I mean, I’m assuming. I wasn’t there at the time, you understand.
I’m not saying there are a lot of fireworks tonight, but it’s nearly 9.15pm and the relentless number of explosions outside is making Walthamstow feel a little like downtown Beirut in the middle of the Lebanese Civil War.

That’s another important win. Great first half from Gyokeres, and the extent to which we missed him as an ‘out ball’ in the 2nd half underlined the job he did for us. Elsewhere, I thought Eze had his best game in that central role, while Rice was, once again, superhuman.
