Still have one unfinished book under 2017 deal with Tribeca Books but maybe this is additional money?

To lower prices we need more housing. Build build build. In NYC too.
@briansully.bsky.social is right, just build more. But that would collapse the inflated housing market (REITs and RE investors, etc...). More housing, lower prices, more real estate taxes.

🧵 From UAW President Shawn Fain:

“The UAW supports aggressive tariff action to protect American manufacturing jobs as a good first step to undoing decades of anti-worker trade policy. We do not support using factory workers as pawns in a fight over immigration or drug policy.

Oil & gasoline higher but not by much. Oil was higher 2 weeks ago and gasoline futures (RBOB) back to August levels.

Keys will be:
1. length of tariffs
2. Canada's response
3. Location

Midwest drivers could see price hike soon as most Canadian imports go to refineries there

As we search for the cause of the deadly LA fires, an obscure 2019 California law protecting utilities by capping potential damages comes into focus

I'm watching power grids. So far, so good.

Could have record demand in Mid-Atlantic so need all of everything. Guess is ~25% coal (sad, but true)

Texas test is making sure everything keeps operating. There's enough capacity .. it just has to stay online.

Thought to be related to cancer for 40+ years -- and banned in cosmetics since the 1990s -- the FDA gets around to banning a food additive.

Red Dye #3 caused tumors in rats back in the 1980s.

15 of 17 are at or above historical averages, including all 4 in the LA basin region (Cachuma, Castaic, Diamond Valley & Casitas).

Critical aspect is getting that water to where it needs to go.

Bond yields spiking again on inflation fears.

The last 2 times yields spiked, stocks sold off (though did come back, clearly!)

Not happening this time ... maybe because Europe in far worse shape than we are?

Zuckerberg comes in red hot. Says free expression is key as bias is destroying trust in social media and it became too political. Whacks “fact checkers,” adds more community notes, and moves some moderation teams to Texas from California.

If your light and heat are working from North Carolina to Virginia to Ohio ... thank coal.

Coal + nat gas + nuclear are 88% of your power generation mix this morning.

It's not pretty and certainly not what we'd think would be the case in 2025, but that's our reality.

US LNG to Europe's rescue, again!

As we discussed on Power Lunch today, Ukraine has said "nyet" to Russian gas. This ends (at least for now) a deal to move gas between Russia and parts of Europe that has been in place since 1991.
