This looks like something out of Florida.

But Canadians hate European cities. It's why we never travel to Europe for vacation ever.

Need to account for driver error as the buses will be travelling at 200 km/h.

City planners to their credit probably want to get ahead of this, but political maverick Lily Cheng thinks if she does delays this further then nothing will happen. Lol.

By my calculation, it is 1 km/h faster than St. Clair. Baby steps.

In today's down market I think it's fair to say it is.

How would that work without an updated property tax assessment? I think doing that plus progressive property tax would have the mayor stepping on two political landmines at once.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it etc. etc.

Tangential to this all the office workers who own pickup trucks but then complain that people are always asking to borrow it to haul heavy stuff should be sent straight to jail. When you buy a pickup you have to accept the obligations that come with it.

Ah I missed that
November 29, 2025 at 5:14 PM
To be fair, it's not super clear that city council would have even kept them after FIFA.
November 29, 2025 at 5:05 PM
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I've emailed councillors about it, TTC Riders even had a media campaign on it. It's not a sexy issue. Especially if a city's politics lean heavily towards status quo.

The red light trap doesn't apply here because it's a protected only left turn signal. There's no permissive left turn phase in any case.
November 29, 2025 at 4:20 PM
In this case yes. They don't allow lagging lefts because they worry it's too confusing for Toronto drivers. On brand new rails I would hope that it can't also be blamed on old track switches like the rest of the streetcar network.

TTC is only partially responsible. Metrolinx wanted real transit signal priority on the route but Toronto's Transportation department doesn't want it. This has been known for at least 5 years now.
November 29, 2025 at 3:56 PM
I really don't get why anyone who is aware of the St. Clair and Spadina streetcars thought it was a good idea to build two more of them..
November 29, 2025 at 3:41 PM
It's important for mid-rise buildings to step down to SFHs that probably won't exist in 20 years.
November 28, 2025 at 5:02 PM
Joking aside I'd say transit mall. But that encompasses a lot of different levels of private vehicle restriction. Bus/streetcar priority street is maybe better.
November 28, 2025 at 4:56 PM
You mean like the catchy name we have for this in Toronto? The King Street Transit Priority Corridor?
November 28, 2025 at 4:47 PM
Yes it could be “moral licencing”. Like okay we built some green alleyways so now I can support building more car sewers without feeling bad because the karmic scales will be balanced.

3 or 4 years ago Parkside Drive could have been narrowed to two lanes with temporary materials if that is what the local councillor wanted. But he didn't, so now we have more carnage on that road.
