I have the corollary problem where I'll buy the nicer more expensive version of something, designed to be more robust, but because it's so nice and expensive I use it less / baby it more when the whole point is that it _does_ stand up to more use and abuse than the cheaper version would
Jevons object: Something well-crafted that's so satisfying to use that you use it a lot more than you'd use something not built quite as well, thus causing it to wear out faster.
