However tonight’s game and this season go, I feel lucky getting to watch Lamar Jackson play. He's just so much fun to watch even if I can never rest easy watching the Ravens play.

"We can 'make America great again'‐if we only get rid of due process, or judicial review, or the separation of powers, or birthright citizenship, or the freedom of the press. We might be great if we got rid of some or all of those things. But we would no longer be America." - Louis Menand, the NYer

Another great book talk at the Hamilton Branch Library with @susanmd.bsky.social. I love how many interesting and talented authors live in the greater Baltimore area. If you haven't read her book, it's well worth checking out.

Feeling grateful to be able to walk to our favorite independent bookstore, @snugbooksbmore.bsky.social, for Independent Bookstore Day.

We supported our local indie this morning. We're so lucky to have @snugbooksbmore.bsky.social in our neighborhood!
Happy Independent Bookstore Day! Read Maris's piece, then go show your local indie bookstore some love. They're so much more than places to get books--they are places to engage with ideas and others in your community. Staffed by actual humans to help you find the books you didn't know you needed!
I needed to write about something that’s giving me hope, so I wrote about Independent Bookstore Day which is this Saturday. lithub.com/something-go...

Glad the Orioles got that safety but you just can't give up three touchdowns and a field goal to the Reds and expect to win.

In honor of anti-record store day, I picked up a used Tears for Fears album yesterday featuring the saddest visit to a duck pond you'll ever see.

I got to attend a great concert today from the folk singer @crysmatthews.bsky.social in our neighborhood. Her music really speaks to the moment and deserves a wide audience on Bluesky.

One of the reasons I particularly enjoy collecting used vinyl. It gives records new life and makes me feel connected to the history of the music.
Do you ever wonder where your older records were before you owned them? I’ve been the caretaker of this album for quite a few years now. But where was it originally purchased back in 1958? Who was listening the very first time a needle moved through its grooves, and what did they think?

Also on point.
And then I wondered … had Pete Hegseth really meant to text me the state secrets?

If you had an employee who routinely told you that he'd saved your company millions, but had to constantly walk back his claims and downgrade those millions to hundreds, you'd probably not keep that person in their job very long.
Since President Trump took office, Elon Musk and DOGE have wielded an unprecedented level of power to cut the government, and they claim to have stopped billions of dollars in wasteful spending.

But those claims are not what they seem, our investigative reporter explains. Listen to "The Daily."

Why the claims of Elon Musk’s government-cutting team are not what they seem.
