How can I use a term as a slur, if it's also the term you use to describe yourself? Is there a different term that liberals would prefer I use to describe them? Democrat? Capitalist? Are you saying liberals can use the term liberals, but leftists shouldn't? I find the OP's point confusing.

Enforced or not someone this applies to simply won't be President, even if they get inaugurated, and people pretend they are President for a while. And the petson we're pretending is VP will actually be president. And he might eventually have a cause to point this out.

I think there's a lot of evidence of coordination between UK anti-trans political operatives and US ones, including Singal.

He hounded a bunch of UK trans people too, and plenty of them signed onto the petition to kick him off. I blocked him and then found he got through anyway (he deleted his Bluesky account and started another one to get past the first wave of blocks). So I had to block him again ...

Nah make sweetroll one word, and you'll be getting tweetrolls and weetrolls and treetrolls, wheatrolls, it'll be lexical anarchy ...

I've seen mainstream(ish) Democrats expressing a new distrust of the NYT in the past week both over trans reporting and over Luigi reporting.

How else would you deflect a statement that might be interpreted as a compliment?

"Communist gay utopia wish fulfillment" sounds more like a 5/5 star review to me. People are weird.

Wait are you saying a fan artist changed the gender/race/ or style of a character they liked? Perish the thought. (They weren't trying to be an asshole about it were they?)

Come to think of it several of our friends were ethnomusicologists, maybe ethnomusicologists think about music theory differently from music majors, hmm ...
December 15, 2024 at 7:07 PM
Oh is it literally called those 4 letters, rather than them standing for something? For me it was the original Urusei Yatsura and other Rumiko Takahasi stuff, so more than I gen ago Im afraid. Thanks.

What does FLCL stand for?

I binged the anime this weekend and loved it. Someone said the Dandadan fandom on twitter was getting into lots of racism stuff. Do you folks know why? Are they taking Momo's tanned gyaru friend as blackface or something? I really dig the intro song too.

Because he focused on pre-classical stuff, and I mostly on 20th century. There was no sense that 18th century European stuff was somehow best, much less all that really counts as music. He'd point to 14th century stuff, and Id point to industrial, and we'd both say jazz was too hard for us.
December 15, 2024 at 6:22 PM
Yeah, that makes sense. I only know bits and pieces of music theory, but every time I talked about it with my roommate we were very aware of their being lots and lots of history, and theory varying a lot from century to century and culture to culture.
December 15, 2024 at 6:17 PM
I thought there were lots of Arabic and Indian and Chinese and African and Native American music theories before we even get to classical music, much less Jazz or more modern stuff. Do those just not count as music theory, or is the point that music theory education is often colonialist AF?

Different cultures have different takes on how many continents there are. Are N. and S. America one land mass or two? Do we get to count the Zealandia plate as a continent. How big of an Island/plate counts as a continent. Should we count each tectonic plate seperately?
December 15, 2024 at 2:30 PM
Yup, that do seem to be how human concepts work!
December 15, 2024 at 2:25 PM
But apparently that's not the modern Jewish way of understanding the relation between the council of elohim and the president of that council.
December 15, 2024 at 2:25 PM
Right! But suits our purposes is the key. Sometimes we do it by countries, or climes, or ecosystems, or continents, or even very local things like counties or townships. To my Pagan ass, the Divine is like that, and monotheism and polytheism are very much "suits our purposes" issues.
