Really excited to have this new capability at UGA thanks to the support of the NSF! The Eclipse XRM-910 Micro-CT from Sigray Inc., will allow us to create 3D models of plant tissues from a series of 2D X-ray images, preserving the original sample. #plantbio #glycotime 🧪

It’s not just about this or that nameserver or browser, or how long it’s down, or if it’s intermittent (though those things are important, especially to clinicians and their patients); it’s this: “What if NCBI is not a permanent repository?” 🧪 🧬
It sounds like things are functional atm but what if NCBI is not a permanent repository?

Are existing NCBI projects preserved in European Nucleotide Archive if NCBI goes down? 🧬 🖥️

The NIH website, including NCBI, GenBank, and BLAST are down. I thought it might be a brief outage so waited 12 hours and checked again before posting this. They’re still down.

It is hard to express just how fundamental these tools are to biology and medicine: research, applied, public and private.

While our bodies seem static, our cells are constantly changing shape or on the move during tissue homeostasis or wound repair & even more dramatically during embryonic development, during events like gastrulation. Defining how cellular machines mediate these events is a key task for our field 1/n
