My thoughts on the Soto deal:
That’s a LOT of money.
Juan Soto deserves a LOT of money.
Last year was obviously incredible, but I don’t think Soto has hit his peak yet. He underperformed his xwOBA by 40 points last year.

I just came across a Seattle Mariners/Chicago Cubs trade idea of Luis Castillo and Andres Munoz for Bellinger and Hoerner straight up.
And a Bryce Miller for Bellinger and 2 prospects.

My thoughts on the Adames contract
His batted ball data is very consistent. He’ll strike out but he still hits the ball hard, and walks. His defense slipped a lot last year, but he’s still probably above average defensively. Not going to be an insanely good deal, but it’s a good move.

They have a straight up good offense. If they can cobble together a not terrible rotation, look out.

Kudos to Arenado for being willing to be flexible, but his league-avg bat is *considerably* less valuable at 1B, esp since he's still solid (if clearly post-peak) at 3B
