There are so many things that are annoying when it comes to broader audience perception of criticism but one of the biggest is that (for the most part) you only get accused of not knowing what you’re talking about when you have something negative to say about a game.

Good question! The problem is devs shouldn't have to worry their summon system is 'different enough' in the first place. If these keep getting approved, how are devs supposed to develop w/o worrying one of their 100s of mechanics is too close to a claim on a patent somewhere?
I have a question: isn’t this patent just for the specifics of Pokemon Legends Z-A’s battle system and not the general concept of summoning? I don’t see how it would be enforceable unless a game copied every single step-by-step aspect of that one game’s battle system.

You're JOKING this was approved. The move of large corporations, particularly Nintendo, patenting obvious gameplay ideas that just happen to be executed via software is one of the greatest threats to game development and creativity. How is the USPTO approving these. (Claim breakdown below)

100% this. With a lot of indie game studios I set up, the owners themselves are technically “Contractors” of the company bc its easier to personally sign a Contractor Agreement than worry about minimum employment standards early on. That label doesn’t automatically equate to lower involvement at all
Yeah, no. I'm a contractor, I write for games, and sometimes that means writing 100% of a game's text. I'm a valuable part of the team! Contractors aren't just "support", they deserve to be credited (and treated) better than this

How is anyone supposed to reasonably believe these people are law enforcement? They're masked, anyone can buy a CBP hat and a POLICE patch, and why would a real gov't agent wear insignia suggesting they're both federal border patrol AND state/local police? They're dressed like amateur carjackers.
