Feeling the weight of a lot of unmet goals this year.
I had really hoped to make strides in my professional life this year and it just seems like the universe, economy and industry just said “Nah”.

It’s getting obvious that I’m burned out. 8 people at work this week have expressed concern over how exhausted I look.
I’ve averaged 5 hours of sleep per day for the year, used all my PTO on my kids’ sick days and an unsuccessful job hunt, and am paid peanuts to do the work of 3 people.

One method of Japanese study that I would recommend everyone: Shadowing.
My prep course for university here included a class specifically on shadowing where we recorded ourselves.
Hearing yourself and hearing your mistakes is really key to understanding pitch accent.

3 companies I applied to use it, but each time I had to fill out a form with the same info on my resume.
Despite all 3 using the same platform, it doesn’t have a login. So instead of applying a template and adjusting details applicable to the job, I need to re-enter ｅｖｅｒｙ ｄｅｔａｉｌ.

Living out near the mountains can be cold as hell around winter, but I do enjoy stepping outside to the smell of all the houses nearby using their wood stoves and fireplaces.

The games business is about games. If you’re in the games business, and somehow (as often happens) your company somehow is now focused on something else (AI, XR, “IP,” acquisitions, etc.) you’re in for a period of struggle. Everyone will wonder what’s wrong. But you know. It’s about games. Gameplay.

Feeling bummed today about a variety of things, but just saw a woman get off the train at Ikebukuro and offer to walk a blind woman through the station to her transfer. A reminder that simple acts of kindness radiate a warmth even to those who witness it.
