Boeing says “The MD-11 (UPS) has the second-worst safety record of any commercial aircraft still in service” in their own report, I believe it.
Boeing bought McDonnell Douglas in a merger that became effective on August 1, 1997. Although the UPS cargo plane was built in 1991, 34 years ago.

Okay I know I shouldn’t wade in when two experts are debunking a myth, I blame my recent neurosurgery for making me extra cranky, and unable to from full sentences.
Dr. @philplait.bsky.social posted debunking lunar landing myths. He included his photo. He mentioned @amyshirateitel.bsky.social also

Why ice hockey is great:

Brad Marchand is taking a leave from the Panthers to coach a Halifax junior team in honor of his friend JP MacCallum’s late daughter, Selah. The game will raise funds for her family, and Marchand donated a signed jersey for an online raffle.

In an effort to spread some joy I am punctuating messages in a group text with Cookie Monster GIFs. Not some, all of them for the past three days.

I am a #hockey fan, more specifically a NJ Devils fan stuck in Floriduh. Devils are in Florida, I cannot go to the game as I have surgery in four days. I can’t risk getting COVID. I wasn’t able to get vaccinated, and no vaccination program in Florida.

This statement is not hyperbole, under Stalin people and events were purged. Original image Stalin with high-ranking party members: Nikolai Antipov, Sergei Kirov, & Nikolai Shvernik. As an individual fell from favor or was purged, they were retouched out of the photo until only Stalin remained

I am a supporter of the Smithsonian Institution. I have found their coverage fair. It is a public private partnership. I funded 2 endowments and both indicate that the Board of Regents would direct their usage. Nothing about the Executive branch having exclusive oversight.#Smithsonian

While it does have a representative of the President in the Vice President it is an independent group. Erasing history is a very dangerous and slippery slope as seen under Stalin. Leon Trotsky and Lev Kamenev as just 2 examples. Killed and removed from history.

I think I will reuse a video I created as a reply to another of your posts.
Can I just stuff money in an envelope and send it to you?

Can I just stuff currency and valuable metals into an envelope and send it to you instead?
(And intentionally ironic that I used AI to create this clip.)

Cluelessness embodied perfectly. Does one of these people look out of place? Like he didn’t leave the stage as expected?
So proud, so so proud.

I want to thank and support @amyshirateitel.bsky.social for saying out loud what I was thinking. I understand that it would be inappropriate for me to comment on the all-woman space flight.
The women were passengers; the same as flying in an airplane in terms of effort and training.

My first reaction was to take a picture of the Enola Gay on display at the Udvar-Hazy location of the Air & Space Museum.
My second is to read through my donor agreements to see how this impacts previous agreements.
Third and what you can also do, donate to targeted museums.

The air crash that happened tonight is a tragedy and gut wrenching. Especially when listening to the air traffic controllers. Civilian and Military aviation use different radio frequency ranges by design.
However people posting conjecture and opinions at this moment is not prudent.

Advisist's blog post this week is about keeping archives accessible as technology advances. Not only does it look at some of the recent changes for data storage, but I also provide suggestions to address the issues.

The U.S. Space Force uniforms uniquely designed with women in mind before adapting for men, a first for a U.S. military branch. This approach, highlighted by the Smithsonian's National Air & Space Museum, aimed to emphasize women's importance in the Space Force and reduce future alteration costs.

Updating the computer in my office. So far today I have lost my glasses, changed operating system versions, redone cable manage, updated desk heights, and gotten frustrated by newer products incompatibility with older products Same standards

Happy new calendar!

Many will say it is a new year. Not all cultures use the Georgian Calendar. Some use lunar. In the interest of consistency in communication almost all use the Georgian Calendar. Hence today is new calendar day. (Likely not academic calendars.)

Greetings and salutations!
I am glad to see you again.
I tried to make your famous Alaskan Strolling Turkey, but I didn’t get it perfect. I wasn’t sure if the antlers got made into stock before or after being cooked. I did before and the flavor was weak.

Someone recently asked me what the IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions) is like.
When ai explained it is people selling rides and showing them on the show floor, they didn’t believe me.
More pictures and reports to come.

Things that I am surprised to allowed at the airport. A wagon with a tent as carryon. I saw it go through security screening, nothing but carry on luggage inside of it. Only 1 child in group.
Sigh
