I forgot to show y'all my adorable cat the other night!

I caught Freyja sniffing the ever-loving fuuuuck outta my quilted bag. Just. Deep. Down. In. There. Aw yeah.

This isn't my favorite nature photo, but we saw a double rainbow a week or so ago, and I grabbed a quick photo. That was really nice!

Our plans to fly a kite on the beach are being thwarted by extremely high tides, and a "HAZARDOUS SEA WARNING." So uh... Yeah, there will be no *beach* beach today.

Look at this gorgeous row of yellow trees! I think the trunks might be covered in a yellow lichen, making them extra yellow. Exciting!

OK so about that... I am not a great listener sometimes 😅.

But I am taking my sweet time to only do prep today, sitting on a comfy cushion at the coffee table while I watch Outlander. So, at least I am being gentle, and also not doomscrolling!

I added a dusting of smoked paprika right before I stuck it in the oven.

Dinner tonight is going to be so good.
We have leftover corn bread & mashed potatoes w/ gravy, and hubs will make green beans.

On our one-year dating anniversary, my husband & I got matching giant squid tattoos on our ankles.

It's a good thing we ended up happy together - 12 years later, we're still going strong!

I got ALL the veggies in the pot before arm no worky!

I've seasoned the zacusca & gave it a few brr brrs with the immersion blender. Now I let it gently bublé until the flavors coalesce.

Yes, it looks like orange goop but it is delicious orange goop & I can't wait to spread it on cheesy flatbread!
A red Dutch oven contains zacusca. Zacusca is a thick veggie spread that is orange in color. It's made from roasted eggplants, bell peppers, carrots, and onions.

OK. I am finishing the zacusca today! But my right shoulder is beginning to subluxate again, so I'm in a race against time to get the right-arm-intensive work done before I lose functionality.

OK so I was gonna make a smol amount of zacusca so I only got one eggplant, but we harvested a whole lotta tomatoes so I am adjusting things accordingly.

Guess I'm making a lotta zacusca!
The roasted eggplant will be added after I get these tomatoes under control lol!

OK well that took at least twice as long as I thought. This plum liqueur smells delicious, though. I can only imagine how much better it'll smell in 2-3 months!

Plum season!
Unlike one neighbor's apple tree, the other neighbor's plum trees are within reach, and also not hanging over my yard. Thank goodness!

Anyhow, I'm making spiced plum liqueur today! It should be ready to gift for the holidays.

This is the second time netflix has harassed me about my cancellation two days ago.

It'd be real cool if there were a "I meant to cancel. Your overbearing bullshit is a big part of why I cancelled my subscription. Again." option.

There is no way to dismiss this message by confirmation.
Netflix message says, " We got your cancel request. You can still enjoy netflix until your membership ends on August 27, 2025. Didn't mean to cancel?" The two options available are: "Remind me later" and "Undo cancel request."

The tomato paste looks darker in person, and it tastes amazing. I started the process around 3:30 and finished up around 11:30. Eight hours to make about a cup or two of tomato paste from 5 pounds of tomatoes.

It's in the freezer now, ready for use!
