People are so literature-averse that they consume articles through shortform videos of people pointing to extracts of text (trusting the text is from a legitimate source) and explaining the context they’re supposed to gather from the article.

This reminds me of when I went to undergrad and we’d get these ice storms, leaving our bare trees plastered with ice crystals. It was the most beautiful sight during the winter months.

Reading “Cat Among the Pigeons” by Agatha Christie. It’s the 32nd Hercule Poirot novel. In some of her books, her writing catches a cinematic rhythm. This one is one of them. The Hollow’s another.

One of my favorite writers wrote a poignant thread about how racists fly under the radar and seek cover through interpersonal relationships with Black and Brown people.
There’s a scene in the show The Watchmen where a black woman is in the bedroom of her longtime white friend and boss who has just died. She walks around wearing special glasses and eventually spots something-she opens a door and an entire clan outfit is revealed.

Oh. The recipe called for one red chili and I added three… but I removed the seeds from two of the three chilies. Next time, the seeds and all are going in because the coconut milk helps with mellowing the spice factor. Def keeping that recipe in rotation!
