Debbie Abrahams on Radio 4 just now. I don't understand why, as an MP (and a senior one at that), you would go on Today if you're not prepared to talk about what's in the news.

At some point European leaders are going to learn what the average 12-yr old knows instinctively. If you hand over your dinner money to bullied, they don’t go away. They come back stronger, more vicious and with bigger demands.

OMG Vance and Trump shouting at Zelenskyy is quite fucking something.

Huge respect for Anneliese Dodd.
‘Ultimately, these cuts will remove food & healthcare ..the reality is that this decision is already being portrayed as following in President Trump's slipstream of cuts to USAID’

The Labour I voted for promised to restore UK Aid to 0.7% as soon as economy allowed —now they’re slashing it to 0.3%.

This isn’t just a broken promise, it’s a reckless move that makes Britain less safe.

This is short-sighted, self-defeating, and shameful.

I am disgusted.

Let’s remember what this war is about: Ukrainian self-determination, an ability to choose its own future. Neither Trump nor Putin give that any regard.

Zelensky is being forced to plead with Trump that his own country, which has spent so much blood and endured so much horror, is allowed to be at the negotiating table about its own future. That's where we're at- a return of great power politics.

Putin's best week in years.

I've been thinking a lot about the rise of populism and how ill-equipped progressive politics is to fight back. So I wrote my very first substack. substack.com/@borispomroy...
Our Shrinking World: How Populism, Fear, and Division Are Redefining Politics
Can progressive movements adapt and rise to meet the challenge before it's too late?

Wow. So much to unpack.
This Kemi Badenoch quote is such a rich text. Steak at your desk? Sandwiches for breakfast? No moist bread?

So much talk about Fees, but this is the real issue. Students from poorer backgrounds can't afford a roof over their head (let alone food and, dare I say it, beer). Maintenance grants/loans need a HUGE uplift.
Teens from low income households more and more priced out of university as living costs soar way above maintenance loans bit.ly/3BbQ8Pl partly because student accommodation is overpriced by investors and must be rented all year
Students face soaring rents due to lack of supply
Maintenance loans can’t keep up with accommodation increases, meaning halls are at a premium with only overseas families able to afford the best

But hang on, I hear (some of) you say... what about small boats? They're the main thing most politicians talk about after all...
So how DO small boat arrivals compare with legal migration?
Here's your answer in a chart 👇

I've always been sceptical of #InternationalMensDay but 1 in 5 men have no close friends. Suicide is the leading cause of death amongst men under 50. Paternity leave is so poor that many men aren't able to take time off. The status quo damages men as well as women. We need to change the narrative.

The ongoing crisis in hospice funding should demand immediate action.

I know there’s no magic money tree but the reliance on donations to make dignified palliative and end of life care happen is baffling at best.
Proud to have taken part in ITV's timely investigation into the crisis in hospice funding.

The film airs the night before MPs will vote on the AD bill.

I hope every one of them will watch it to see how appallingly the NHS currently fails dying patients through dire funding of palliative care 😔
Really pleased to say I am
presenting an ITV programme on hospice and end of life care.

Since my mum received hospice care a decade ago I’ve been investigating the state of the sector and its lack of funding.

Keeping Care Alive: Hospices in Crisis? will air on ITV, 8:30pm, Thursday 28th November

Feel incredibly lucky that Chiswick School offers an amazing music education to all those who want it, from bands playing in local pubs, through to a full choir partnering with a local Sinfonia and belting out Beethoven's 9th - and everything in between. Has transformed my children's cultural lives.
Without effective music education in state schools and high quality instrumental/vocal tuition being provided for free to low income families, the numbers of state educated people attending conservatoires and becoming pro classical musicians simply won’t increase.

Reflecting on the farmers’ protest: Almost everything in the public sphere feels broken—health, justice, education, and public finances. Labour faces an angry, impatient electorate demanding change but with no consensus on funding it. The challenge ahead is enormous. I don't know how they succeed.

Whilst the diagnosis is on the money. And solution that starts with ‘returning to old school values’ is a massive red flag. The future of what it is to be a great man will not be found in nostalgia.
From the weekend: Labour MP Will Stone told me society no longer encourages men to be “gentlemen”

“You should be the sheepdog. You should never be the wolf. So you should be protecting the sheep, that is a manly thing to do.”
