The process of creating over 80+ maps in the document, along with the super-talented colleagues from PosadMaxwan strategy x design, Generation.Energy, Defacto Urbanism, FABRICations, BRIGHT Cooperative and Felixx Landscape Architects & Planners and others was a great learning experience!

•Regions must manage more of their own freshwater demand and storage.
•Cities to adapt with more green and water space for extreme weather.

𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 & 𝗦𝗼𝗶𝗹
•Make the water and soil system climate- and future-proof.
•Reserve space for rivers, dikes, and freshwater storage (IJsselmeer, Markermeer).
•No new housing in floodplains; stricter rules on land reclamation and building outside dikes.

•Strengthen nature in synergy with agriculture, climate, and water goals.
•Support innovative greenhouse sector (climate-neutral, circular).
•Expand and revitalize the existing Nature Network Netherlands (NNN) and forests.

𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 & 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲
•Secure food supply and rural vitality while adapting to water and soil systems.

•Safeguard and strengthen national industrial clusters (ports, energy-intensive industries, North Sea energy production).

•Strong, diverse economy for national resilience and European strategic autonomy.

•Add four new large-scale housing areas: Alkmaar, Apeldoorn, Helmond, Hengelo/Enschede.
•Improve public space, densify, and adapt cities to climate change.
•Major new infrastructure needed to support hundreds of thousands of homes and jobs.

It coordinates housing, economy, energy, agriculture, nature, water, defense, and infrastructure to keep the country livable, resilient, and competitive. It aims for a fair distribution of scarce space, ensuring all regions contribute according to their strengths.nd jobs.
