In the boring middle of Financial Independence…
DI2K, Debt Free at 40, FI first, RE later
Summer is ending… fall is around the corner. Always a bittersweet time.

Yesterday was my birthday. While I celebrated it with friends, it was a mixed feelings kind of day with what is happening in this country. I used to feel so proud to have been born on Independence Day, I never thought I’d see that change.

Learning is such an underrated super power.

I took a gluten free baking class to master the art of gf brownies which has evaded me for 8 long years… and now I can make them from scratch with ease knowing the bakery’s secret recipe! #glutenfree #baker

What age to you means “retiring early”? Is it 45, 55, 65? Is financial freedom more important?

Heading to NYC in a few weeks to meet up with a friend to catch up!! Any good suggestions for dinner or brunch place in the Hell’s Kitchen, Midtown, or Chelsea area?

Here's a new idea for DOGE from my husband:
Dames
Overseeing
Government
Expenses

Have ladies manage the finances and we'll actually find the real waste PLUS keep the good people and bright minds doing the work worth doing for society to function well.

I've switched back to running again with the Peloton 5k program that dropped. I feel confident I will finish it without feeling like a failure. The "pace targets" are so much better for my mental game in getting back into running. I am not new to running, but I'm slower than I used to be...

Plugging along on the journey to FI. Looking away from the investments, keeping more emergency funds available (building a larger cushion) and hoping for the best with a kiddo at the helm of the US economy...

While the market is on a wild ride, I'm staying the FI course. This isn't the first time in my elder millennial life that this has been a crap show; and sadly it won't be the last. While this feels different (keeping more cash), hoping better winds prevail.

“What's your dream job?"

Well, in my dreams, I don't work.

Restarted my blog about life and personal finance... seems a good time as any to promote the ideals of living frugally, below your means, and saving or investing the difference toward FI. #personalfinance #FIRE #frugal

Proud of NJ and have met Booker in person in DC once back in 2018 just out on the lawn randomly. He was such a nice guy!

For years, I blogged daily and wrote about life, frugal living, and photography. I haven't done anything creative since 2019 when I shut it all down. I am considering re-starting my website, or blog, and building a portfolio of the work I have done on website design, podcasting, or otherwise.

So far, I like Kristin McGee's Beginner Pilates collection on Peloton. It's a good, very slow, intro to what to expect. I can feel how it can be considered strength and look forward to trying this out for awhile. My joints were having issues with lifting heavier weights #pelofam #peloton #onepeloton

Trying out beginner Pilates on Peloton this week.

I love the original idea behind it: exercise designed for wounded veterans. It makes so much sense now that I'm aware of it's goals (thanks Kristin McGee). It might be the missing piece to my overall workout plans #pelofam

We went out on a date night last night, and after dropping $75 on an average dinner at a local restaurant (used to be like $40)... we went to the home improvement store. We have always been pretty practical, but this was a new practicality for us as we venture out in middle age.

Back to 5am workouts on Peloton #pelofam I realized, life gets in the way of my personal time if I wait til the afternoon and I will rarely, if ever, workout in the evening! After over a month of non-stop illness, and then a weeklong gluten-ing... I'm finally back to join the living.

After taking some time to recover from illness, and grief over loss of one of my dogs, I've decided to switch to afternoon workouts on Peloton.

I realized, the one doggo was the reason I had to get up early every day (the other happily sleeps in). So, focusing on "consistency" to keep showing up.

Had to take a break from morning workouts this past week on Peloton. Run down, sick, and just needed to stop for a short bit. Hoping to restart next week with a fresh energy, but so far, not feeling that energy after losing my beloved dog.

Finished our taxes for the 2024 year. Unfortunately, despite paying additional quarterly all year, we still owe more. Squeezed middle class, we are. Raises and extra hours go to pay taxes at this point. #personalfinance

Don’t get your information from one source. I’ve read things here or have seen clickbait headlines only to dive deeper and find out the issue/decision/etc is different than what’s being presented. Just stay curious and keep questioning…

Okay February, you seem nice, but I just got out of a VERY toxic relationship with January so I’m not looking for anything too serious right now. So we can hang, we can have some fun, but the second you make me cry I am OUT

If I've stopped listening to your complaints, setting #boundaries around my time at work, and you are mad... It means I'm absolutely making the right decision.

It's not easy to shift gears and decide to limit my acceptance of other people's garbage, but in due time, it'll be worth it.

Quick... go stock up, go to the doctor!!

Why don't you live like this all the time?
Why is this time any different?

We see our doctors regularly, are up-to-date on medical needs, and always keep a stocked pantry of dried goods.

This just seems like a #frugal way of life. Welcome to the club.
