There's a lot of trust involved in community work. It's complex navigating relationships of trust.

My mom was the one who gave me Flowers in the Attic at like age 11. She has no regrets 🤷🏽‍♀️
My daughter is reading Flowers in the Attic at my suggestion and every once in a while I'll get a text like "omg everyone in this book is sick af" and I remind her I read this at like 10 or 11 years old.

I was a kid in Pete Wilson's California. I still remember the intense fear. Now as an adult and a citizen it's different and I'm in a position to make a difference in my community.

I will do everything for the kids I work with. I just wish I could take away the fear.

We can't burnout early and we have to keep our eye on the end goal. A better future is possible.

I'm spending tomorrow taking kids to the Holocaust Museum. I won't check on the news until I get home. I owe it to my community to remain hopeful and fight.
