Extremely disappointed to see StoryGraph employing LLMs without transparency on what content is being scraped and active, opt-in consent.

I want to say thank you to everyone who makes the books I devour possible. The writers, editors, cover artists, admins, and all the people doing things I don’t even know I don’t know. Thank you, I appreciate it. 💙📚

Hey. Yeah, you, hey: if you are not currently sick or disabled, one day you will be, and you will wish you lived in a world that had the resources and culture to make your life as full and thriving and happy as anyone else's. You will want that world, and you can start helping make it, right now.

Anyone else remember the Windows Vista upgrade that made all successive updates fail?
(Fortunately, digging in and manually deleting the bad update resolved it. Unfortunately, you were still on Vista.)
If you were a villain, who would you be?

I'd be a macOS Sonoma update and I'd stall all updates at 28 minutes remaining, where mine keeps failing.

I thought keeping a straight face listening to certain parts of romance audiobooks on my walks was bad, but shout out to everyone who saw me gagging or grimacing at chapter 3 of “The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires” this morning. 🤢🫣📚🎧

I’m just begging you: When somebody posts something about “the media” isn’t covering something, please make sure, before you internalize that idea, that the person is saying something more than “this is the first I have personally heard of it.” Which is a very different thing.

I dislike how normalized I am to this, usually “productionalize”
I just saw the word PRODUCTIONALIZATION in a presentation for an upcoming 2-hr meeting and I am done.

It’s not even the end of January and I’ve already read two 2024 releases. Thank you, librarians who load pre-release titles. 💙

Pre-2020, I haven’t been consistently reading for pleasure in years. In Dec 2021, I signed up for Storygraph and jokingly put 100 books as my goal for 2022. I read >130. For 2023, I figured 10/month, why not, and put 120 as the goal. I just finished book 180. It’s felt so good to read for fun again.

December is DNF month for me I guess 😂
Question is if I will actually finish enough books to get me to the next milestone for 2023…

For spicy Sunday night takes — I was disappointed in how much that B movie was hyped up as girl power, only to ultimately center the vast majority of the narrative around men. 💖

One is The Golden Spoon (nope, not the froyo place) which is American but definitely GBBO inspired.
I don’t usually read thriller/horror and now I have TWO that I’m currently reading. Huh.

I erroneously got it in my head that this one book was coming out in October, so now every time I see the cover and realize it’s still not coming out for several more months, 💔

The true purpose of KOSA is to remove from the internet anything Christian Fundamentalists find objectionable under the guise of protecting children: trans people, queer people, sex workers (who are frequently queer and trans and bipoc!), information on abortions.

And it has bipartisan support.
