May we raise children
who love the unloved …

And when they're grown &
someone has to speak for those
who have no voice

may they draw upon that
wilder bond, those days of
tending tender things

and be the ones.

This is merely an interesting post about history. There is absolutely no strategic timing in this post.

When you ban books, you ban ideas. You stop people from being exposed to things that make the world bigger and more complex. You stop them from seeing things differently. And in that, you impose your limits rather than standing for a broader beautiful experience.”

That’s exactly what they want.

My body is screaming at me to rest. My mind is screaming to do essential tasks. If I don’t rest, I will crash. If I don’t do tasks, there are bad consequences. Chronic illness ftw 🤦🏻‍♀️ Guess I’ll just stare at my phone while being consumed by anxiety, thereby negating the rest.

Right now I’m coping by trying not to think about it. And also, watching a documentary about Harry Houdini, my ultimate “hear me out”.

I zoomed through this book in a few hours. Catalina’s earnestness in the beginning reminds me of myself at that age. This was a much more emotional read than I expected, and I highly recommend it. @karlarrriot.bsky.social

Looks like I seriously underestimated the number of books and Red Bulls I would need for this snow day.

After a delay caused by feeling absolutely shit, I finished this one today. Becky Holmes @deathtospinach.bsky.social, I have to admit I came into this with a judgmental view, thinking it could never happen to me. I was impressed and humbled by your empathy (cont. in photo alt text)

I officially have the crud, though Covid and flu tests were negative, thank goodness. Tonight I’m gonna do shots of NyQuil.

This is Alabama, so definitely no AC in summer. Average winter temp is around 50F(10C) so you just need a jacket. In summer it can hit 100F(38C) with 98% humidity, easily and frequently. You don’t want to be sitting in a metal box in the sun with no AC.
Which is worse ?

No heat in the car during winter
Or
No air in the car during summer

Just finished Blood at the Root. I won’t give spoilers but y’all need to read it. It may be set in a magical world, but it deals with some real, hard truths. I’m glad there is going to be a sequel because I’m INVESTED in Malik Baron. @itsladarrion.bsky.social thank you for this beautiful story!
