After a delay caused by feeling absolutely shit, I finished this one today. Becky Holmes @deathtospinach.bsky.social, I have to admit I came into this with a judgmental view, thinking it could never happen to me. I was impressed and humbled by your empathy (cont. in photo alt text)
and compassion in telling the stories of these victims. Thankfully, I have been spared such fate by my steadfast refusal to believe that anyone could possibly be attracted to me. That, combined with the $20 balance in my savings account, make it highly unlikely that I will become a victim of romance fraud. However, should I ever find myself in that position, I know what to watch for. All joking aside, this is a valuable and timely book. The Mercer House in Savannah, GA last night. Those star lights are absolutely sending me!

Today I went to a spine specialist. Apparently my rheumatoid arthritis has spread to the joints in my lumbar spine and sacrum and the swelling and inflammation is pressing on my nerves and causing pain and weakness in my legs. (Continued in alt text on photo)
Continuation of post: This is not surprising, as I have been struggling to walk periodically for months now. I have had RA for about 13 years, but this aggressive progression is a little bit scary. We start steroid epidurals next week, so please keep me in your thoughts/prayers/good vibes. I have never posted about this on my other socials, but I’m hoping that sharing it will let people know where I’m coming from. This illness touches every aspect of my life, but I have such an amazing support network and I’m thankful for all the things I can still do, especially my job at the library. Thank you for reading. Fannie Flagg’s aunt, Bess Fortenberry, was the basis for the character Idgie Threadgoode in Fried Green Tomatoes. She was the owner of the Irondale Cafe, which became the Whistle Stop Cafe in the book/movie. The more I learn about Bess, the more I realize how much of her there is in Idgie.

She is Bess Fortenberry, the owner of the Irondale Cafe, aunt of author Fannie Flagg, and the basis for the character Idgie Threadgoode. While I’m thinking about Fried Green Tomatoes, I work in the little Alabama town that Whistle Stop was based on. This was Fannie Flagg’s relatives’ house in the old downtown section. The “Threadgoode house”was based on this home.
