The drum I've been pounding for four+ years now.

But people think it is the answer because it makes THEM feel good and like they're doing something when, in fact, it's not them doing anything that helps anyone but themselves.

Show the fuck up. Get on the phone. Asses in seats. It's uncomfortable.
I understand that slogans have a purpose and are not inclusive of all ideas, but the call to "read books" as some sort of inherent defense against fascism nags at me. Which books! Reading is not in and of itself a virtue!
