The "OMG, some people with money whose name is on a 100 year old ceramic are not supporting my political bull-bleepery!" is hard to stomach.

From the #Maharchives: IDK, something wierd I've wanted to make for a while. I TRIED super glue, but that failed. So to recoup after several failures, I used urethane foam - which was the perfect solution, but applied poorly. "The next time, it will be flawless!"

I just got back from a 4 day, 300 mile outing in my VW Bus. It was a super fun weekend exploring junkyards and visiting friends.

There is some clear emission from the depleted Uranium. :)

Here’s a ~1g example of depleted uranium followed by isotopically natural material.

The depleted stuff sees a lot of use for shielding still, it is minimally active with a favorable density for the application.

Prohibition started in Colorado in 1916. The Coors family pivoted to ceramics, using the rich clay deposits around Golden. That kept the family business afloat until the end of Prohibition in 1933. Coors Porcelain Company became CoorsTEK, which is still in Golden today.

A friend has found an intact antique Walkie-Recordall audio recorder.
“[4.8 microcurie]Radium was used to discharge static on the “sonoband” embossing medium.”

I’ve heard of those machines before but haven’t encountered one yet. Any old audio recording kit is pretty interesting on its own. :)
