This is my my biggest issue with the "see what ChatGPT says."

Doing it that way, you aren't learning anything. You are getting a snippet of information with no context for why, when, who, where, or how. You have no way of judging the accuracy or stupidity of the answer.
If you think that professors exist as repositories of knowledge that students ask for answers, you’re missing the entire point of a college education.

We’re here to teach students how to do research, how to analyze and argue, how to think for themselves — how to find the answers on their own.
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."

Dear AI pushers:

You cannot force me to use AI, no matter how many weird pop-ups and icons and auto-settings you generate in your apps, browsers, and search bars. I can work around you, and if it comes to it, I am happy with pen and paper.

Fuck off very kindly,

Okay… we might have found something more terrifying than Derrick Henry with a head of steam.
Holy shit. A 360lb receiver. 😬

This is why there's never been a popular show called Law & Order: Appeals Unit.
As I’ve always said, I’m delighted to have coffee with law students and aspiring appellate lawyers. The one request I always turn down, which I sometimes get, is “shadowing.”

This would consist of sitting in my office staring at me rub my head at the screen.

Do the words "unconditional surrender" mean anything to you?
JD Vance: "This is how wars ultimately get settled. If you go back to World War 2, if you go back to every major conflict in human history, they all end with some kind of negotiation."

Mixed berry cobbler for office birthday lunch. Blue, black, and raspberries with a butter biscuit topping served warm with ice cream.

Happy with how this turned out

What are you biggest red flags in cooking videos?

Mine are:

1) barely salting meat,
2) someone saying brown the meat and then very clearly doing a shit job of it,
3) same thing for vegetables, and
4) water when stock and/or alcohol would be so much better.

Let me know what yours are

I don’t think I’m exaggerating that this letter is sanctionable. All of it is total nonsense. For one thing, no money has been paid or will be paid back.
John Sauer says that if the US had to pay back all the taxes it illegally collected from consumers, it might ruin the country.

This is long been my biggest thing about generative AI. If all you do is input some information and it generates "work" for you, you haven't learned anything.

You don't have the knowledge to critically evaluate what has been generated. And you haven't learned anything to apply in the future.

In undergrad, a history professor had us pick a topic from a list and research it on Wikipedia. Then we had to go look at books in the library on that topic and compare.

I love Wikipedia, but never treat it as gospel.
This is one of the best ideas I've heard in ages.

Seeing a lot of “in an age of AI why be a writer/artist?” takes. 🧵 ahoy. #BookSky #AI

I’d argue that, as a human endeavour, art is now more important than ever. It’s not just the need to combat an endless tide of mundane or outright awful AI slop, and the corporate greed that powers it.
