It would have to be a pretty elaborate hoax, wouldn't it?

Yep. I was a freelance writer/editor for computer mags. The editing brought in more than the writing. But in the end, the companies were wanting so much, for less money, I got out. That sort of work is utterly devalued now

It is a source of tremendous dismay that even some people who think they would never be racist, and believe themselves to be left of centre, still think it's ok to use Diane Abbott as a punchline.

Battery tech is such a limiting factor. We could make an exoskeleton for people with disabilities, but it would be so limited by the power issue.

In my defence, thanksgiving really isn't a thing here, and Black Friday shit now goes on so long, how was I supposed to know the actual date Americans take one of their two days off a year.

We plan to put more of our code on GitHub, especially for the new v5. It may be overkill for some groups, but we have quite a nice new micro site for event admins to add to the calendar, which holds their hands and stops common mistakes

Quite a few of the events in our calendar now get added this way; members can fill in the details and upload posters, then we check and publish.

I think for specialised stuff like this, it's always going to be best to do custom stuff if you can. Though be careful about having too many good ideas; we've added so many bits to BLUF, the code is a bit of a monster now.
